HSE Emergency First Aid at Work

 This course is designed for those, who are responsible for First Aid in low risk working environments.

Duration: 1 Day

Location: This course can be facilitated in FARE or at your location (companies only)

Who is this for: This course is suited to employees who act as the first aider in low risk environments and individual wanting to up skill in order to gain an accredited qualification.

Course Syllabus:

 The Emergency First Aid at Work training syllabus covers:

  • Understand the role and responsibilities of the first aider
  • Recording and reporting of accidents and incident in the work place including RIDDOR (Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 2013)
  • What a First Aid kit contains
  • Assessing the scene and acting safely, effectively and swiftly in an emergency.

Administer First Aid to a casualty who is/requires:

  • Unconscious Casualty (including Seizure)
  • CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)
  • Choking
  • Bleeding
  • Shock
  • Minor injuries (cuts, grazes, bruises, small splinters, minor burns and scalds)

Work related injuries and illness:

  • Shock (Anaphylaxis)
  • Stroke (FAST)
  • Asthma
  • Heart Attack (including Angina)
  • Diabetes (Type 1 & 2)
  • Fractures (including Skull)

Assessment is continuous throughout course

HSE First Aid at Work

This more in depth course covers not only adult but also child and infant first aid.  Along with the practical exam there is also a written exam in order to successfully achieve a pass.

Duration: 3 Days

Location: This course can be facilitated in FARE or at your location (companies only)

Who is this for: This course is suitable for those wanting to be an accredited first aider in the work place, in particular work places that have higher significant risks identified through risk assessment where a first aider has to be present.

Course Syllabus:

 The First Aid at Work training syllabus covers:

  • Understand the role and responsibilities of the first aider
  • Recording and reporting of accidents and incident in the work place including RIDDOR (Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 2013)

  • Specific workplace related injuries
  • Assessing the scene and acting safely, effectively and swiftly in a emergency.

Administer First Aid to a casualty who is/requires:

  • Heart Attack (including Angina)
  • Diabetes (type 1 & 2)

Paediatric First Aid:

 This course aims to provide childcare workers and/or parents the skills and knowledge to deal with incidents involving babies or young children.

Duration: 1 Day

Location:  This course can be facilitated in FARE or at your location (companies only)

Who is this for: For employees working in a childcare setting with babies or young children. Additionally this course is suitable for parents of babies or young children. 

 Course Syllabus:

An Introduction of Emergency First aid at work including, babies and young children include:

  • Planning for an emergency? What would you do if a child in your care had a serious accident or illness?
  • Do you have someone responsible to look after children in your care if you had to leave?
  • Is your First Aid box easily accessible? Is it fully equipped?
  • Do you have consent forms for the child in the event they need to go to hospital?
  • Does you home/work have a fire escape plan?
  • Are parents aware of the procedures in the event of an emergency?
  • Do you have a accessible list of telephone numbers i.e., parents, emergency contact, GP, health Visitor, Social services and NHS 24.

Administer First Aid to a casualty who is/or requires:

  • Adult, child and baby CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)
  • Choking (Adult, child and baby)
  • Bleeding (wounds)

  • Extreme temperature (hot & cold)
  • Medication
  • Dealing with an unwell child

Food Hygiene Level 1

 This course provides the basic requirements when handling food.

 Duration: 3 hours

Who is this for: The course is ideal for those not directly involved in the preparation or handling of food.

Health & Safety & Work

 Under the Health & Safety at Work Act (1974) all employers are legally required to provide Health & Safety training to all employees to comply with the legislation.  This increases awareness in the workplace to improve safety and create a safe place of work.

 Who is this for: For employees wishing to update or gaining accredited training in Health & Safety at Work or employers wishing to up skill their staff.

 This course provides candidates with the knowledge of safe handling and correct technique.

SVQ Level 3 Youth Work

 This Level 3 qualification is suitable for those looking at a career within the youth work sector and/or those already working looking to gain a national recognised qualification.
